Hi Tris, is it possible to post a standard union contract for editors to see?

Thanks

Well, there's a couple of "standard" contracts, but they're 175+ pages each and cover everything under the sun....

Can you narrow down what you're looking for? Wages? Holidays? Overtime?

Yes, 175 pages will indeed get my eyes rolling and rolling. I am thinking more like a simple deal memo that includes rate, overtime, holidays,
start and end date, and a guarantee, aka "play or pay" for whatever number of weeks you can negotiate. Especially if it's starting weeks away from the present. I just like to see what the companies are used to deal with, before I make my own version.

thanks.

Pedro,

We're putting together a document that covers deal memos for the forthcoming new incarnation of the Guild's website. The document isn't yet written, though. Once it is done, we'll be sure to post a link to it up here.

Of course, a deal memo is going to serve different purposes on union versus non-union jobs. For a union gig, the deal memo will simply specify what you're going to get over and above what you're guaranteed in the contract, since the union contract (all 175 or more pages of it) is the prevailing document. In a non-union setting there are no contractual guarantees, so an individual deal memo is the only document you've got to fall back on.
